AhlulBayt News Agency: Egyptian analysts have criticized the leaders of three Arab countries for failing to ask US President Donald Trump to stop the Gaza war during his recent visit to the region. They argue that this omission has fueled anger among Arab nations.
Ismail Sabri, an Egyptian professor of political science and international relations, pointed out that French President Emmanuel Macron recently stated that the only person capable of pressuring Israel to halt the war is the US President. Sabri emphasized that the leaders Trump met with were fully aware of this reality.
He noted that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had previously convinced Trump to lift sanctions on Syria. Similarly, he and other leaders of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council could have urged Trump to stop the Gaza war and open humanitarian corridors.
Sabri argued that even if Trump had ignored their request, they should have at least raised the issue to fulfill their duty toward their brothers in Gaza. However, he claimed that they did nothing and would continue to do nothing, as their priorities lie elsewhere—focused on investment, money, energy, oil, artificial intelligence, technology, and arms deals, rather than addressing regional crises.
The professor further stated that this lack of action has led to widespread frustration in the Arab world, as people question why the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE did not advocate for Gaza.
He also highlighted the extraordinary generosity of these leaders toward Trump, describing it as unprecedented in diplomatic history. He suggested that with such vast financial contributions, not only Trump but the entire world could have been influenced.
Abbas Mansour, another Egyptian analyst, compared the actions of the US to its historical treatment of Native Americans. He argued that just as Americans destroyed Indigenous communities and seized their wealth, they are now doing the same to Palestinians. He claimed that the foundation of American power is built on violence and exploitation.
Trump’s recent tour included visits to Qatar, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia. Washington stated that the purpose of the trip was to strengthen strategic cooperation with the Persian Gulf states.
During the visit, the three Arab countries pledged to invest billions of dollars in the United States.
